LOLLICUP USA
New large extruder installed to replace existing lines / Higher output and lower energy use
Lollicup USA (Chino, California / USA; www.lollicupusa.com), a manufacturer of premium beverage and disposal food service products, has installed a new plastics extruding line that will increase production and cut energy consumption. The machine has been made by Germany’s Reifenhäuser Group (Troisdorf; www.reifenhauser.com) and will improve production by at least 40% while also reducing overall energy use by about 20%, according to Lollicup USA’s plant assistant manager, Poli Chou.
Described by production supervisor Ron Gonzales as the “Cadillac” of extruders, the equipment produces 2,000 kg/h, which is significantly more than Lollicup’s other machines that have an output of 600 kg/h. Gonzales said the extruder is also capable of making thicker, higher quality plastic sheets that are used to form its "Karat" cups and lids.
The extruder, which had to be shipped in 26 containers over the course of several months, will replace the extruders currently in use.
