A valuable practical guide to blown film extrusion / User-friendly
Blown film extrusion is not an area like injection moulding that has a great deal of specialist literature and even application-oriented guides devoted to it. It is thus frequently impossible to find answers to the everyday questions that crop up in practice. Blow moulding expert, Ulrich (Uli) Büttel (www.blasfolien-uli.de), with his many years´ experience, deserves the credit for having closed this gap with his specialist book “Blown Film Extrusion – A Science in Itself?” that has now been brought out by his own publishing house BLUB Verlag Lönker (D-26129 Oldenburg; www.blubverlag.de).
This reference work, intended for users of blown film technology and those making a move into this technology, has been kept deliberately simple in respect of its language and diagrams in order to make it accessible to non-academics too. After two brief fundamental chapters explaining the structure and operation of an extrusion plant, the remaining chapters are devoted to the application of the technology. The main focus is on the practical problems associated with defective production and their clearly defined solutions. Although the answers are set out in as simple and “easy-to-grasp” manner as possible, they have a sound theoretical basis and are supported by formulae and tables. The book is set to be a success and will be of great practical benefit to a large number of companies on account of its user friendliness.
Book Service: “Blown Film Extrusion – A Science in Itself?”, 273 pages, original price EUR 204.52 + postage/VAT: PIE-No. B 45455.
