German plastics additives and masterbatch producer Lifocolor (Lichtenfels; www.lifocolor.de) has expanded its “Lifocolor Bio” range for colouring bio-based, home-compostable polymers.
The “Bio-C” masterbatches are used to colour bio-based, biodegradable polymer products in such a way that the final product can be certified for compostability under home conditions. “They decompose to water, carbon dioxide and minerals. All the colourants used are therefore selected so that they do not pollute the environment during degradation,” explained Martin Fabian, managing director of the Lifocolor group. In October 2020, Lifocolor had invested around EUR 20m in a 14,000 m² building complex at its headquarters site (see Plasteurope.com of 20.10.2020).
The company has used the new masterbatch to create 11 formulations for its 2022 “Colour Road” palette, which it develops every year in partnership with German plastics film and products producer Renolit (Worms; www.renolit.com). Lifocolor said its Colour Road selection for 2022, which is split into three shading groups, was inspired by the balance between nature and society.
