Korean group plans compounding plant in Poland
LG Chem (Seoul / South Korea; www.lgchem.com) plans to build a new compounding facility at the LG group’s production site of Wroclaw / Poland, according to a recent report issued by Poland’s Industrial Development Agency (ARP; www.arp.com). The Korean group currently produces polarisation filters for LCD screen modules in Wroclaw.
The report indicates that LG Chem has received authorisation to build another production hall and offices at the site as well as to install the necessary equipment. The expansion will come at a price tag of PLN 36m (about EUR 9m) and could result in the creation of 30 new jobs. ARP also said that once the expansion is built, the Wroclaw site will focus on processing PBT, ABS, SAN, MBS and PMMA used for automotive parts, laptops, mobile phones and telecommunication cables. LG Chem will probably use most of the output for its own production.
