LENZING PLASTICS
Films segment becomes independent subsidiary / Sales of EUR 52m / 280 employees
Since April 1, 2000, the former Lenzing Films Business Group of Lenzing AG (A-4860 Lenzing) has been operating as an independent company. The change was backdated to January 1, 2000. The two former business group managers, Dipl.-Ing. Johann Huber and Dipl.-Ing Wolfgang Plasser, have taken over as Managing Directors of the 100% Lenzing subsidiary, which is now called Lenzing Plastics GmbH & Co. KG (A-4860 Lenzing).
Lenzing Plastics has a workforce of some 280 and puts its annual sales at over EUR 52m. At its Lenzing site, the company manufactures plastics film, fabrics and tapes as well as PTFE products. Total production in 1999 amounted to approx. 13,000 t. According to a recent report, the films business group once again achieved a record result in 1999. In fact, Lenzing´s position has improved considerably in relation to that of its competitors, with fresh gains in market share. So that this positive trend continues, the company has invested in a new coating technology, which stared up in March 2000. With a significant increase in volumes in hot gas filtration – still a relatively young sector – Lenzing has managed to achieve a further strategic optimisation of its product portfolio. Lenzing Plastics is beginning its new life with the start-up of a new facility for producing composite film. Capacities for the branded products “Profilen” (application as filter media), which have since been introduced worldwide, are being further expanded.
