LEIS POLYTECHNIK
Highly-filled PA compounds / 70% glass-fibre content / Global distribution by Schulman
Leis Polytechnik GmbH (D-66877 Ramstein; www.leis-polytechnik.de) reports the successful development of a new compounding method for the production of polyamide 6 with a glass-fibre content of 70%. According to Leis, “Nylaforce B 70“ is equipped with high mechanical strength and an elasticity modulus of 25,000 Mpa.
The highly-filled “Nylaforce“ series (starting from 50% glass-fibre content) is based on the so-called feed-up method for a gentle and even incorporation of the fibres. Compounds produced with this method are said to have better mechanical properties than conventionally produced compounds processed by twin-screw compounders. Leis has developed a complete range of products based on the new compounding method. In addition to the “B“ types, the company will also supply “Nylaforce A“ grades based on PA 66. A. Schulman GmbH (D-50143 Kerpen; www.aschulman.com) will take over the international sales of “Nylaforce“ products.
Leis will start mass production of the new type B 70 by the end of this year. The company expects sales to rise to up to 4,000 t/yr by 2006. At the same time, turnover is expected to increase from roughly EUR 4m to EUR 20m.
