German distributor and compounder Lehmann & Voss (LuV, Hamburg; www.lehvoss.de) has extended its range of technical compounds through the acquisition of WMK Plastics (Solingen / Germany; www.wmk-plastics.de). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. LuV said the purchase broadens its existing portfolio of high-performance compounds and functional masterbatches.
WMK Plastics is a family-owned compounder with a workforce of 40 people. The company has been producing and selling engineering thermoplastics to customers in German-speaking Europe for more than 30 years, and offers a wide range of services from grinding and granulation to colouration. Its portfolio comprises technical compounds equipped with all kinds of fillers and additives.
The Solingen-based company will operate as an independent subsidiary within LuV, and will continue to be headed by its current managing director Thorsten Rosenbohm. Not part of the transaction is WMK’s regrinding facility in Wuppertal / Germany. Plasteurope.com was unable to obtain a statement from the company about the plant’s future.
LuV has adopted an internationalisation strategy as part of which it established a representative office in South Korea in May this year (see Plasteurope.com of 14.05.2015). Last year it also raised its activities in China and the US.
