Czech production facility expanded by 50,000 m² / Plans to add up to 600 new jobs
Danish toy manufacturer Lego (Billund; www.lego.com) in mid-April inaugurated the latest expansion at its site in Kladno / Czech Republic. The additional 50,000 m2 in space houses three production halls and a manual warehouse, and lifts the facility’s overall capacity by 30%. Lego expects the expansion to create another 600 jobs, depending on future demand. Since first announcing the expansion in June 2013 – see Plasteurope.com of 01.07.2013 – Lego has already added more than 340 positions at the site, which occupies about 140,000 m2.

Kladno is one of four Lego manufacturing sites around the world, and provides the basis for the packing of Lego sets, the decoration and assembly of its elements as well as R&D of packing and decoration technologies. It is also home to a model production, where specialists develop marketing tools for in-store campaigns as well as models for Legoland parks and retail stores.
