LC PACKAGING
New headquarters and warehouse under construction in the Netherlands / Second factory for flexible intermediate bulk containers in Bangladesh
LC Packaging (Nieuwerkerk aan den Ijssel / The Netherlands; www.lcpackaging.com), a producer and distributor of flexible packaging, began construction in September 2019 of a building made from what it says are sustainable construction materials. This will house its new headquarters and warehouse in Waddinxveen / The Netherlands.
In 2020, LC Packaging will officially move from its current location in Nieuwerkerk a/d Ijssel to the new building in Logistiekpark A12 in Waddinxveen. The building will be realised in two phases, with more than 11,000 m² of warehouse space and 3,000 m² of office space created in the first phase followed by the construction of an additional 5,000 m² of warehouse space.

The warehouse will be split into multiple closed compartments to ensure that packaging for different industries, such as food, pharma or chemicals, is stored separately. An advanced SAP warehouse management system safeguards tracking and tracing of goods. The first phase creates a warehouse with the capacity of 29,000 pallet slots and offers a separate printing facility for jute- and polypropylene bags.
LC Packaging has two primary areas of business. It is a world player in the manufacturing, import and distribution of agriculture packaging, which includes production of jute bags, woven bags, geotextiles, paper and plastic bags. The company’s flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) business is involved in the manufacturing of high-quality big bags, bulk bags or jumbo bags for the storage or transportation of dry bulk goods and liquids. It also has a cardboard business that manufactures boxes, among other pack formats. The company reported EUR 181m in turnover in 2018, of which 50% is FIBCs and 50% is agri-packaging.
Several divisions of the company will be concentrated at the new headquarters including LC Packaging Netherlands, LC Packaging International and LC Packaging Global. In addition, “Measures have been taken to minimise CO2emissions and consumption of energy and water, and sustainable materials are used for the construction and interior of the building,” said Lucas Lammers, CEO.
Earlier this year LC Packaging opened its second FIBC production facility in Bangladesh. The company’s FIBC production here is operated by Dutch-Bangla Pack (Dhaka / Bangladesh; www.dbpackltd.com), a Netherlands-Bangladesh joint venture established in 2007 between LC Packaging and local Bangladeshi shareholders. The expansion contains a 4,000 m² cleanroom that doubles the annual production capacity of high-quality FIBCs for food or pharmaceutical applications. The second facility will create 650 additional jobs for manual production and value-added tasks.
