German speciality chemicals company Lanxess (Cologne; www.lanxess.com) has expanded its “Colortherm Yellow” pigment range for heat-resistant, high-performance plastics with two inorganic yellow pigments.
Iron oxide-based “Colortherm Yellow 5” and zinc-oxide based “Colortherm Yellow 26” provide thermal stability (no decomposition) and retain their colour in high-performance polymer applications requiring processing temperatures between 220°C and 260°C. The new pigments are a cost-effective compromise between the company’s best-in-class “Colortherm Yellow 20” and “Colortherm Yellow 30” products, which are heat-stable up to 300°C.
Lanxess is expecting the core profit for fiscal 2021 to be above last year’s mark and recently said that it might even return to pre-pandemic levels (see Plasteurope.com of 19.03.2021). The company recently hiked the prices of its inorganic pigments (see Plasteurope.com of 08.02.2021).
