Kuraray (Tokyo / Japan; www.kuraray.co.jp), the world’s largest producer of polyvinyl alcohols (PVOH), is looking for new markets for its polymers belonging to the "Poval" brand. The company has recently started extending its portfolio by offering filaments for 3D printing based on PVOH blends. “Mowiflex 3D 2000” can be used as support filament in additive manufacturing processes. According to Poval CEO Heiko Mack, Mowiflex shows “excellent printing properties” and enables the production of both complex static structures as well as those with moving parts. After printing, the support structures can be dissolved with water. The material is then biodegradable and can be disposed of in normal wastewater systems, he explained.
