Raising “Trosifol” PVB film capacity in Germany / Additional output to go towards rising automotive demand
In response to rising global demand from the automotive industry, Kuraray Europe (Frankfurt / Germany; www.kuraray.eu) – part of Japanese chemicals group Kuraray (Tokyo; www.kuraray.co.jp) – has announced a EUR 20m investment in another “Trosifol” PVB film production line at its Trosifol site in Troisdorf / Germany. The nameplate capacity was not disclosed, although the company did say the new line would be commissioned by the end of 2013. Kuraray said the investment was in response to rising demand from the automotive industry for PVB film, used in laminated safety glass.

Ralf Eschrich, head of Kuraray Europe's Trosifol division, added that the capacity expansion would go hand-in-hand with a rise in the number of staff working in R&D as well as technical service. The company also said it was reviewing strategic options to raise “Trosifol” PVB film output in Asia, especially India.
