Cooperation agreement with LG Electronics to drive technologies for plastics processing of electronics devices / New order for 3 “MX” injection moulding machines
Taking their existing three-year relationship to a new level, German plastics machinery manufacturer KraussMaffei (KM, Munich; www.kraussmaffei.com) and South Korea’s LG Electronics (Pyeongtaek-si; www.lg.com) on 24 August 2011 inked an agreement to cooperate on driving technological development in plastics processing for electronics devices.

During their visit in Munich, LG representatives also ordered more KM “MX” series injection moulding machines, which are to be installed at LG Electronics’ new Mold Technology Centre, currently under construction in Pyeongtaek-si. To guarantee that the machines will be able to handle a range of different development projects for the Korean group’s future products, they include a number of specific process modules, including SpinForm – which allows for the production of multicomponent parts.
Commenting on the investment, LG Electronics’ Jae-Woong Yun, head of the Mold Technology Centre, said: “We see great potential for more efficient and better production of new applications utilising the know-how of KraussMaffei in combining injection and reaction moulding technology.”
