German plastics machinery maker KraussMaffei (KM, Munich; www.kraussmaffei.com) on 12 October officially opened a new production plant in Martin / Slovakia. The company says the site’s 6,600 m2 of production space will be allocated to NC and CNC production of tooling parts and to assembling KM’s AX series injection moulding machines up to 350 t. In addition, the new plant also doubles the company’s capacity for switch cabinets.
KM has had a presence in Martin since 2005 and just now moved to this new, larger facility. Commenting on the opening, CEO Dietmar Straub said that, “In expanding our production portfolio here, we’re opening up efficiency potential in response to increasing demand from eastern Europe. At the same time in our Munich plant we’re concentrating on our core competence in building high-end plastics processing machinery.”
