PVC pipe producer Corr Plastik Industrial (Cabreuva / Brazil) recently added four pipe extrusion lines from KraussMaffei Berstorff (Hannover / Germany; www.berstorff.com) at its new 60,000 m² facility near Maceió, the capital of Alagoas state in the north east of Brazil. Two double-strand lines headed by KMD 75-36/R twin-screw extruders and two single-strand lines with KMD 90-36/R extruders, both from the “Performance” series, were installed in late 2009 as part of the company’s plan to double its production capacity. The lines are configured to produce pipe with an outside diameter of 20 mm to 250 mm and are capable of producing up to 33,600 t/y. In January 2010, the Brazilian company further boosted production at the plant by 3,600 t/y with a line for corrugated pipe.
The company’s main plant in Cabreúva in São Paulo state has a pipe output of 34,800 t/y. The first phase of the Maceió plant is a 7,500 m² facility for the production of water, irrigation and drainage pipes.
