Machinery manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Kunststofftechnik (KM, D-80997 München; www.krauss-maffei.de), has joined forces with a subsidiary of one of its key window profile customers, Dalian Shide Group (SDG, Dalian, Liaoning / China; www.shide-global.com), to set up a new production company for extrusion systems in China. KM holds 90%, Dalian Shide 10% of the joint venture, which KM said will invest around EUR 10m in production facilities. A new plant in Zhejiang province, between Shanghai and Ningbo, scheduled for completion by the end of October 2005, will manufacture pipe and profile extruders targeted at the middle and upper price segments. The site will serve all of Asia and will also be home to the regional service centre for extrusion technology.
