Full-scale production of "Thermolast” V compounds begins
Thermoplastics elastomer producer Kraiburg TPE (Waldkraiburg / Germany; www.kraiburg-tpe.com) has begun full-scale production of advanced compounds from its “Thermolast” V TPE range, which are used in applications such as seals in the automotive industry. The material features high heat resistance, an improved compression set and good adhesion to PA and PP.

The compounds feature improved mechanical stability and have a hardness spectrum from 50 to 80 Shore A. Additionally, the formulation of the TPEs achieves a high compression set, especially under prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures, the company said. It will demonstrate the material at the 2016 International VDI conference “Plastics in Automotive Engineering”, held in Mannheim / Germany on 9 and 10 March (www.kunststoffe-im-auto.de).
