Since 1 January, Krahn Chemie (Hamburg, Germany; www.krahn.eu) has held the European distribution rights for PVC from Westlake Vinnolit (Ismaning, Germany; www.westlakevinnolit.com). According to both companies, the agreement applies to all the manufacturer’s PVC grades.

With the new partnership, Krahn is expanding its portfolio, which previously included plasticisers, stabilisers, additives, blowing agents, biocides, flame retardants, and colourants. “The cooperation with one of the leading PVC manufacturers strengthens our presence in Europe,” said Klemens Unteutsch, business segment manager at Krahn Chemie. The agreement comes at the right time for the distributor – only a few days ago, the EU imposed final punitive tariffs on PVC from Egypt and the US.
Westlake Vinnolit produces PVC at four plants in Germany. According to Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe database, the company’s total capacity of PVC is more than 770,000 t/y at its sites in Burghausen, Cologne, Gendorf, and Knapsack.
