Further growth: New three-layer extruder / 1997 sales up to DEM 110m
At the beginning of January, Kobusch Folien GmbH (D-34414 Warburg), which claims to be one of the leading manufacturers of flexible film packagings in Europe, brought on stream a new three-layer coextruder for the production of speciality film. As a member of the international Tenneco Group, the Warburg based company is thus investing in "greater economic efficiency, quality and competitiveness". Says Managing Director, Erwin Vahle: "The acquisition is an important part of the company's future. After all, success comes mainly from innovativeness." Following its first year as part of Tenneco, the company can also look back on success: it hoisted sales in 1997 to DEM 110m, which was DEM 4m more than in the previous year. "And we want to continue growing at a respectable rate", said Vahle.
The plant, which cost approx. DEM 4.7m, offers a variety of layer-distribution alternatives and considerable versatility in the combination of materials. It opens up completely new dimensions in the processing of polyolefins. A fully modular system structure enables individual components to be customised in line with the individual production requirements of Kobusch Folien's clients. This is the third new extruder in Warburg which the department has fitted with state-of-the-art technology in only a short time. According to a press release "the trend with high-tech film for flexible packagings is towards lower and lower wall thicknesses. With the aid of the new facility, Kobusch Folien is also aiming to set standards for the future. After all, thinner films with identical physical performance not only spare resources, they also lower the costs incurred in charges for the green dot system in Germany".
