KP said its production site in Pravia, Spain, received accreditation for the transparency of its recycled PET operations regarding the origin of rPET flake used in its Tray2Tray initiative. The company focuses on reducing waste across the packaging value chain by developing clear PET thermoformed trays from recycled PET trays that are then also fully recyclable.

The company added that it recently launched the market’s first food packaging trays made of rPET 100% derived from food trays. When KP’s closed-loop initiative kicked off in 2020, approximately 3% of the post-consumer recycled material came from its Tray2Tray initiative. In 2023, the collected volume climbed to 11.4%, translating to more than 900 mn post-consumer trays recovered and used, the company noted.
