Pharmaceutical films capacity expansion in Brazil
To meet the growing market in South America, the Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Films division of Klöckner Pentaplast (kp Pharma, Montabaur / Germany; www.kpfilms.com) is expanding the production capacity of its high-barrier films for pharmaceutical packaging in Brazil. The company is investing EUR 5m at its facility in Cotia, with the new capability expected to be operational from July 2019.
This expansion is the second in the last two years in Cotia. The company added a fourth slitting line at the site about two years ago, which increased the facility's slitting capacity by about 4,000 t/y. In mid-April 2018, the films producer expanded its packaging capacities in China with the installation of a slitting system at its plant in Suzhou, Jiangsu – see Plasteurope.com of 19.04.2018.
Klöckner Pentaplast manufactures in 18 countries. It employs more than 6,300 people in 35 plants and sales offices.
