KLÖCKNER PENTAPLAST
Universal PET rigid film for pharmaceutical blister packaging
Europe’s largest manufacturer of PET rigid film Klöckner Pentaplast (KP, Montabaur / Germany; www.kpfilms.com) has introduced a new PET rigid film for pharmaceutical blister packaging. Rather than being designed for specific applications, “Pentapharm kpVantage” is meant to cater to a wide spectrum of structural and packaging demands. KP said the film can be processed using existing machinery and does not require the installation of special tools or changes in sealing material, packaging design or packaging components.
KpVantage film can serve as mono-film for pharmaceutical products with low barrier requirements. Alternatively, it can act as one of the components for a barrier combination blend in products that require high humidity and oxygen protection levels. Co-components include Honeywell’s “Aclar” polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) as well as polyvinylidene chloride (PVdC). The new film also can be processed at lower temperatures than standard films, KP says.
