KENDRION
Sale of first automotive business? / Talks in with Voestalpine / Complement to Polynorm
A drive by the Kendrion group (HQ: NL-3704 HD Zeist; www.kendrion.com) to divest its automotive businesses appears to have moved into gear (see PIE 04, 2004). Kendrion has confirmed that it is in talks about selling automotive supplier Kendrion Van Niftrik (NL-4645 ZG Putte) to Austria´s voestalpine (A-4020 Linz; www.voestalpine.com). The steel and automotive supply group wants to integrate Van Niftrik into its subsidiary Polynorm (NL-3750 GA Bunschoten; www.polynorm.com), acquired in 2001.
With a workforce of 250, Van Niftrik develops, produces and assembles injection moulded components, primarily for automobiles. The company acquired by Kendrion in 1987 has 24,000 m² of production space and operates 44 injection moulding machines with clamping forces of 30-3,000 t. Its highly automated production facilities utilise CIM control and work with nearly all types of thermoplastics, using such technologies as gas injection, back pressure, in-mould decoration and labelling.
