Takeover of Canadian compounder pads N. American portfolio
Israeli masterbatch producer and compounder Kafrit Industries (Negev; www.kafrit.com) has announced the acquisition of Canada’s Absa Resin Technologies (Cambridge, Ontario). Financial details were not disclosed.

The takeover adds to Kafrit’s North American business, which includes Polyfil USA and Kafrit NA (previously Constab Additive Polymers).

The Canadian company focuses on compounding and recycling filled and reinforced engineering thermoplastics in smaller volumes, including tailor-made batches. Absa also conducts grinding and distribution operations.
Kafrit did not provide information on the existing capacity at Absa’s headquarters site in Cambridge.
The Israeli compounding group’s portfolio includes colour and additive concentrates, and the company boasts a combined capacity of around 140,000 t/y. Kafrit employs a staff of 550 and most recently reported turnover of some EUR 270 mn.
