New UK plant starts production
German packaging manufacturer Jokey (Wipperfürth; www.jokey.com) said it has begun manufacturing at its new plant in the UK. Including the latest site in Corby, which will operate as Jokey UK, the company now has more than 16 locations.

The new factory site covers nearly 24,000 m², of which around half is built on, the company said. Through the integration of existing buildings, it was able to reduce construction times significantly, with investment costs amounting to EUR 20 mn. The official opening ceremony is due to take place in Q3 2024.
Jokey UK manufactures injection-moulded packaging products for the local market. The production capacities are to be expanded in stages, but details were not provided.
“The UK is an important sales market for Jokey,” says Dennis Lieth, managing director at the British subsidiary. By manufacturing locally, he explained, the company will be able to shorten delivery times considerably by avoiding transport from the European mainland.
In other news, the company said in late September that it has invested in compatriot start-up Relevo (Munich; https://relevo.app), which offers digital, deposit-free reusable container systems for restaurants, cafés, and other catering and eating establishments. The firm, founded in 2020, is said to have more than 3,500 partner locations and availability in over 800 German cities.
