German packaging maker to produce in UK

Jokey (Wipperfürth, Germany; www.jokey.com) said it intends to start manufacturing in the UK and has acquired a plot of land in Northamptonshire, near Birmingham, where it plans to set up its production unit, install machines and hire new employees. Production of injection-moulded plastic packaging for customers in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will begin in September 2023, the company said.

Jokey has so far served the UK market primarily through a trading company in Westbury. The company’s production network currently comprises 15 plants – four in Germany (Wipperfürth, Fähnrichstüttem, Gummersbach, and Sohland) and one each in France, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Belarus, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, and Canada.
The workforce of the company, which was founded in 1968 and is managed by the second and third generations of the Kemmerich family, totals 2,200 employees.
