JOKEY PLASTIK
New plastic packaging production site in Russia
To further strengthen its solid position in the CIS region, German plastics converter Jokey Plastik (Wipperfürth; www.jokey.de) has begun with the construction of a production site in Ulyanovsk / Russia, about 100 km north of the automotive cluster led by car manufacturer AvtoVAZ in Russian Tolyatti / Samara Oblast. The facility is scheduled to be ready for production in August 2014 with around 100 employees.

In August, the company celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the opening of its Mogilev plant in eastern Belarus. The 18,000 m2 site with 68 injection moulders and 175 employees brought in revenues of EUR 50m in 2012, making it one of the largest and most successful locations within the Jokey Group. Roughly 90% of the location's plastics packaging is exported to CIS destinations.

Following the takeover of former Groundplast and then 18 months of rebuilding and converting the site for plastics production, Jokey Plastik Mogilev OOO was ready for operation in 2003. "We simply were in the right location at the right time with the right product," noted Herbert Kemmerich, head of the Jokey Group.
