German plastic container producer builds new plant in Russia
German plastic container manufacturer Jokey Plastik (Wipperfürth; www.jokey.de) will invest EUR 15-20m into building a new plant in Uljanovsk, located in Russia’s Volga region about 850 km east of the capital Moscow. A company spokesperson told Plasteurope.com that Jokey Plastik Uljanovsk, which will provide up to 120 new jobs, is due to start up in early 2014.
“The Russian market is of great interest to us and Uljanovsk offers an ideal location to supply companies throughout Russia,” said Jokey CEO Herbert Kemmerich. Once onstream, the plant will further strengthen Jokey’s presence in Russia, where the group already operates a trade centre in Moscow.
Jokey Plastik operates 13 different plants globally, located in Germany (4), France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Belarus, Turkey, Algeria, Egypt and Canada. Its 1,400 employees last posted sales of about EUR 400m.
