New PET preforms plant opens in Hungary
The new Hungarian plant for Johnson Controls Plastics (European HQ: Ringlaan 5, B-2960 Brecht) is now open. Located in Budapest the new facility will produce PET preforms mainly for the edible oil, soft drink and mineral water markets in Hungary. At present the plant is employing 14 people and is expecting a turnover of USD 16m nextyear. The new facility in Hungary complements Johnson Controls' other European operations in Italy, France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain and the Czech Republic. The company has grown rapidly since it began operations in Europe in 1989 and is now the world's leading producer of PET preforms. Johnson Controls Inc (47920 Halyard, Plymouth, MI 48710, USA) reported sales of over USD 8bn in 1995 of which the Plastic Division accounted for USD 1.2bn.
