Leading composites show seeks closer contact to auto industry / Pavilions at upcoming trade fairs in Paris and Detroit
To drive the use of composite materials especially in automotive construction, the JEC Group (Paris / France; www.jeccomposites.com) – organisers of the world's leading composites fair, "JEC World" – is planning for the first time to participate in several motor shows. Together with a number of composites processors, it is planning to have pavilions at the "Mondial de l’Automobile" in Paris in October and also at the "Detroit Motor Show" in January 2019. Attendance at other fairs in Asia is also envisaged. The "IAA" 2019 in Frankfurt, however, is not on the agenda, JEC told Plasteurope.com.
In value terms, automotive construction accounts for 20% of global composites turnover. This will be the starting point for JEC's CEO Frédérique Mutel as she seeks contact with automotive suppliers and OEMs. Sufficient backing for the company will come from the record figures from the last JEC World in Paris. In March, 1,300 exhibitors and 42,445 trade visitors from 115 countries came to the exhibition.
