Belgian PET plant successfully starts up / First volumes hit the market
In line with its plans, JBF Industries (Mumbai / India; www.jbfindia.com) in mid-June started up its new PET plant in Geel / Belgium. The company informed market players of the impending commissioning in a statement released at the end of May, with Plasteurope.com now being told that first volumes have already been made available. This means that downstream of BP’s Geel-based 1.3m t/y PTA plant, JBF is now operating a twin PET line built by Uhde Inventa-Fischer, which – according to PIE’s Polyglobe capacity database (www.polyglobe.net) – has a nameplate capacity for 432,000 t/y (for details, see Plasteurope.com of 24.10.2012).
The facility is operated by JBF Global Europe, a subsidiary of the Indian group’s international operations business JBF RAK (Ras al Khaimah / United Arab Emirates; www.jbfrak.com).
