EPS manufacturer invests EUR 7m / Two additional production lines at Wismar
German EPS manufacturer Jackon GmbH (D-23970 Wismar; www.jackon.de), set up in 1999 by the Norwegian Jackon group, has expanded its production capacity from 20,000 t/y to 50,000 t/y, with EUR 7m being invested in two additional lines. Some 56 employees are currently working at Wismar; the site had sales of EUR 17m in 2003.
Parent company, Jackon AS (N-1602 Fredrikstadt; www.jackon.no), which makes moulded components of EPS and XPS and insulating materials for building applications (“Jackodur”, “Jackofoam”) and insulation panels, also has production facilities in Belgium, Sweden (3), the Czech Republic and Norway (3). The company additionally manufactures PE foam for insulation of solid-borne sound as well as EPP mouldings. Capacity of the Scandinavian facilities totals 357,000 m3 of EPS and 97,000 m3 of XPS. Overall sales of the Jackon group, which has a combined workforce of 428, were equivalent to EUR 101m in 2003.
The Jackon group also owns the German Gefinex-Jackon Vertriebs GmbH (D-33803 Steinhagen; www.gefinex-jackon.de), with production facilities in Mechau and Steffenshagen, and the Belgian Gefinex-Jackon NV (B-2250 Olen). The Norwegians have a 51% stake in the joint venture with Gefinex GmbH. Another joint venture is Nordic Foam AB (S-541 86 Skövde), owned half by Jackon and half by the Swedish insulating material manufacturer, Paroc AB (S-541 84 Skövde; www.paroc.se).
