PET Engineering technology collaboration / San Pellegrino mineral water in PET bottles
Container specialist PET Engineering (I-31020 San Vendemiano, Treviso; www.petengineering.com) is collaborating with Nestle subsidiary San Pellegrino on the design and supply of blowing moulds for the Italian mineral water supplier´s PET bottles. The joint effort 1.5 litre “Levissima” bottle weighing 30g, is produced using PET Engineering moulds designed for Sidel and Krones machinery. The blowing process was optimised with preforms produced on Husky machines.
The companies have also joined forces in the development of a 0.33 litre elliptical “Issima” bottle for which PET Engineering has supplied moulds for Krones Contiform machines. They have also produced the mould for a round version of the square 1.5 litre “Recoaro” bottle produced on Sidel machines.
The collaboration has also led to the development of a quick changeover system for Sidel PUPM mould types. Called “PUPM CR”, the technique provides reduced mould changeover times for bottles up to 89mm in diametre. A reduction of around 10 hours is claimed when changing format on a 24-mould Sidel machine.
