INVISTA
“Torzen” PA range expanded with high viscosity grades / Speciality applications targeted
Polyamide specialist Invista (Wichita, Kansas / USA; www.invista.com) has added a range of high viscosity resins to its “Torzen” PA 6.6 line. Initial grades will have viscosities ranging from 80 to 360, and some will be available with heat stabilisation and lubricant to give further advantages in processing and end-use applications. The resins were launched at the “Fakuma” (www.fakuma-messe.de) trade fair last month.
“Through customer insights, we recognised a gap in the marketplace for a resin that brought toughness and wear-resistance for a number of speciality applications, which are commonly known to be challenging during processing,” said Matt Osborne, global business manager, Invista Nylon Polymer. “Our team was able to create multiple grades of different viscosities to help solve that challenge. Now injection moulders, extruders, film producers and compounders have a new option for these highly versatile products.”
Benefits of the resins include wear-resistance, durability, resistance to many solvents, oils and chemicals and a stable melt viscosity allowing a wide processing window. In addition, they have good retention of molecular weight during processing, which Invista said was a distinct advantage for demanding processing methods.
The company will target speciality applications such as monofilaments, cast and high-strength multilayer films, stock shapes and rods through extrusion, as well as gears, chain tensioners and rail isolators. The resins are also available as a compounding stock.
