INVISTA
Expansion of “Xpure” polyester copolymer range
US-based polymer and fibre producer Invista (Wichita, Kansas; www.invista.com) has expanded its “Xpure” portfolio through the introduction of 7001 and 701K polyester copolymers.
“Xpure” 7001 is an amorphous polyester resin, while 701K is a pre-crystallised material. Both products have a melting point of approximately 224°C, around 30°C lower than a standard PET. Potential uses include packaging films, bicomponent fibres and food contact applications. The range is manufactured with a new generation catalyst system and offers easy flowing properties for improved processability and the potential to use nonreactive thermal bonding methods, the company said.
Invista says customers have reported a wider processing window compared with standard polyesters, allowing the manufacture of non-standard products such as thick transparent films.
