INVISTA
Intellectual property rights for PTA, PET and related technologies acquired from La Seda / Deal covers EMEA
In a deal the financial details of which were not disclosed, Invista’s (Wichita, Kansas / USA; www.invista.com) Performance Technologies business in early August acquired the intellectual property rights for La Seda de Barcelona’s (LSB, Barcelona / Spain; www.laseda.es) PTA, PET and related process technologies. The agreement also includes the right to exclusively license said technologies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The deal allows Invista Performance Technologies to offer its customers in EMEA the same direct licensing route enjoyed by its clientele elsewhere in the world, the group said, adding that the technologies are available as license packages.
To date, the two companies had been required to collaborate regarding the intellectual property and licensing rights in EMEA, for which their respective predecessor companies had set up a regional joint venture in 2000. Invista used to be a part of US chemical giant DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.dupont.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 20.11.2003.
