Cellulose-based packaging film with natural paper appearance launched
Innovia Films (Wigton / UK; www.innoviafilms.com) has launched a new compostable cellulose-based packaging film with a natural paper appearance. The product, “NatureFlex” NK Matt, has been developed primarily as a lamination grade and is suitable as the outer web of duplex and triplex structures. It is also suitable for use in laminations to other bio-polymers, including other grades of NatureFlex films, and for extrusion coating, the company says.

“Compostable and renewable NatureFlex NK Matt offers manufacturers of natural and organic goods a way to align their packaging message with the spirit of their product marketing at point of sale,” says Clare McKeown, Innovia Films’ market manager. Organic and Fairtrade companies are already trialing the high gas barrier film for products in the confectionery, dry foods, snacks and beverage sectors, the company says.

NatureFlex NK Matt has 97% renewable content and meets the European EN 13432 and American ASTM D6400 composting norms. It is also suitable for anaerobic digestion, Innovia Films adds.
