The olefins and polymers Europe division of chemicals giant Ineos (London / UK; www.ineos.com) has announced the addition of new high-performance polyethylene resins to its “Recycl-IN” product line for use in flexible packaging. Recyl-IN resins are made by combining recycled plastics with highly engineered virgin polymers, resulting in a polymer with properties equivalent to virgin materials that also meets demand for an increase in the use of recycled materials. The new products incorporate more than 60% post-consumer recyclate (PCR) and are for use in demanding flexible packaging applications such as stretch and lamination films typically used in flexible pouches for detergent and personal care products.
Ineos inked in a long-term supply agreement for recycled LDPE and LLDPE with waste management company Saica Natur (Zaragoza / Spain; www.saica.com) to serve the growing demand for flexible packaging with recycled product. The UK company has also been involved in other partnerships for its recycled plastics (see Plasteurope.com of 11.02.2020 and 19.02.2020).
