US ethane supply agreement with Consol Energy / European crackers to be fed by Appalachian-sourced feedstock from 2015
Ineos (Rolle / Switzerland; www.ineos.com) is continuing in its efforts to procure cheap feedstock for its European crackers. After announcing a number of agreements for the supply of ethane from the US – including with Sunoco Logistics Partners (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania / USA; www.sunocologistics.com) and Range Resources Corporation (Fort Worth, Texas / USA; www.rangeresources.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 28.09.2012 – as well as Denmark’s Evergas (Copenhagen; www.evergas.net) – see Plasteurope.com of 25.01.2013 – the company now announced a new ethane purchase agreement with Consol Energy (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / USA; www.consolenergy.com).
Under the terms of the deal, Consol Energy will start supplying ethane sourced from the Appalachian basin via the Mariner East pipeline and sea transport to Ineos’ European cracker complexes. Supplies are set to commence in 2015.
Commenting on the agreement, Ineos’ Procurement and Supply Chain director David Thompson said, “This contract adds to our supply portfolio providing for long-term sourcing of advantageously priced US ethane for our European crackers. It will allow us to continue to consolidate the competitiveness of Ineos’ ethylene production in Europe.“
