Processes selected for China S-PVC project / Start-up scheduled for 2013
Qingdao Haijing Chemical (Qingdao, Shandong / China; www.haijing.com/english) has selected Ineos Technologies’ (Lyndhurst / UK; www.ineos.com) processes for a VCM and S-PVC project at its new site in Dongjia-kou Pro Port Industrial Zone, Qingdao / China. The new plants will have the capacity to produce 400,000 t/y of VCM and 300,000 t/y of S-PVC. They will form part of a broader petrochemical complex, and are scheduled to start-up in 2013.

Ineos said the VCM will be produced by pyrolysis of EDC, which will be produced using high and low temperature chlorination and its two stage fixed bed oxychlorination process.

Li Ming, chairman of Qingdao Haijing, said the project is an important step in the company’s growth plan. “Qingdao Haijing's cooperation with Ineos Technologies is just beginning,” he remarked. The new Dongjiakou Port Industrial Zone site will increase Qingdao Haijing’s total VCM and PVC production capability and represent annual sales of RMB 3.6bn (EUR 393m), the company stated.

Qingdao Haijing already has the capacity to produce 80,000 t/y of PVC and 12,000 t/y of chlorinated PE, among others.
