INEOS PARAFORM
New methylal plant commissioned in Germany
Expanding its footprint in the downstream acetals market, Ineos Paraform (Mainz / Germany; www.ineosparaform.com) on 6 August announced the start-up of its new dimethoxymethane (methylal) plant in Mainz. Used as an additive in polyacetal and ion exchange resins, methylal is characterised by low toxicity and viscosity and found in a wide range of applications including polyurethane foams.
In response to a Plasteurope.com query, a company spokesman said he could not disclose the exact investment sum in the new plant nor its nameplate capacity. The site was acquired by Ineos (Rolle / Switzerland; www.ineos.com) in 2003 and before that was part of Degussa.
