IMCD
European distribution partnership with Teknor Apex expanded / Now includes “Apex” PVC compounds for medical applications
Building on their existing relationship, which dates back to 2008 (see Plasteurope.com of 21.04.2008), US custom compounder Teknor Apex (Pawtucket, Rhode Island; www.teknorapex.com) has appointed IMCD Group (Rotterdam / The Netherlands; www.imcdgroup.com) the exclusive European distributor for its new generation “Apex” PVC compounds for medical applications.
The new grades, which can be used for both extrusion and injection moulding applications, replace diethyhexyl phthalates (DEHP) with alternative plasticisers, including citrates and trioctyl trimellitate. Teknor’s range not only includes standard and gamma sterilisation proof, but also frosty effect and other specialty grades. Typical applications include tubings for intravenous sets, catheters, tracheal cannulas, syringe bodies and luer connectors, among others.
