International Automotive Components (IAC, Luxembourg; www.iacgroup.com) has announced it will be expanding its operations in Elmdon near Birmingham / UK to increase manufacturing of its headliner and trims products for long-time customer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR, Whitley / UK; www.jaguarlandrover.com). IAC will add 28,800 m² to its existing 12,500 m² plant, which opened four years ago, by taking out 11-year leases on two buildings on the Prologis Park Birmingham Interchange business park.
The site will be used for manufacturing, assembly and sequencing, in addition to housing certain centralised UK-based functions such as engineering, programme management, commercial, finance and IT. The company plans to invest in state-of-the-art automated process manufacturing for the site. IAC manufactures standard headliners through to fully integrated multimedia consoles, including an environmentally sustainable and lightweight natural fibre sunroof frame called “Fiber Frame”, which contains 70% renewable content.
IAC generated USD 4.1 bn (EUR 3.7 bn) in turnover in 2018. The group has around 19,000 employees across 60 locations in 18 countries.
