Expansion of hot runners output in Asia / Streamlining in Europe and US
Husky Injection Molding Systems (Bolton, Ontario; www.husky.ca) is sharpening its focus in Asia, investing heavily in the expansion of its hot runners production both in China and India. In line with its identification of the business as a “strategic priority” in 2013, the machinery company is increasing output in Pudong / China, a section of Shanghai, while adding new manufacturing equipment and personnel. A new hot runners production is also being started up at Chennai / India.
The new Asian facilities are expected to improve the Canada-based global player’s lead times in the region. At the same time, the workload at Husky’s plants in Milton, Vermont / USA and Dudelange / Luxembourg will be streamlined.
During the coming year, the machinery manufacturer said it will increase capacity for hot half plates at Dudelange and introduce new “more efficient” manufacturing technology for manifolds. Custom component capability is also being upgraded with “state-of-the-art equipment and skilled machinists.” Husky said it is also installing a “new generation” of engineering automation and adding sales and customer service staff.
