Agreement to acquire Swiss medical and closure mould maker Schöttli Group
Husky Injection Moulding Systems (Bolton, Ontario / Canada; www.husky.ca) has just announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Swiss medical and closure mould maker Schöttli Group (Diessenhofen; www.schoettli.com). The purchase is expected to close in early December but no other details of the transaction have been disclosed.
A leading global manufacturer of medical applications – including syringes, infusion/transfusion products, diagnostic systems and feminine care products – the purchase of Schöttli is expected to provide Husky’s hot runner customers with an enhanced product portfolio, including a stronger knowledge base. The Canadian group said the acquisition also complements its closures business, affording customers a broadened level of technical expertise to produce quality parts, increased speed to market and better response time. In return, the Swiss group’s customer base will have greater access to Husky’s hot runner, controller and injection moulding machine products.
Commenting on the deal, Husky's president and CEO, John Galt, said, “Husky has enjoyed a strong and long-lasting relationship with Schöttli and we have long shared a mutual commitment to quality, technology innovation and customer satisfaction.”
Once the deal has been approved, Schöttli’s sites at its Swiss headquarters as well as its US and Chinese subsidiaries, Magor Mold (San Dimas, California) and s-mouldtech (Suzhou), will also join Husky. The company has 320 employees.
