HUSKY
Technology centre in Luxembourg opened / Innovative injection moulding systems
Husky (European HQ: Husky Injection Moulding Systems SA (PO Box 93, L-3401 Dudelange) is underlining its expanding European market presence in manufacturing, sales and service by inaugurating a technology centre in Dudelange, Luxembourg in June. The centre, costing DM 18m, is the largest fixed investment made by the injection moulding machinery maker since 1985. The centre provides system integration (ie. tools, machines and handling equipment) for customer requirements, testing of tools, demonstration of new production technologies and employee training for customers. Approximately 500sqm of the centre is reserved for the manufacture and assembly of tools for PET-preforms. The production of complete tools with up to 48 cavities started this month.
During the inauguration of the centre, Husky demonstrated three injection moulding systems. A 96 cavity PET preform system, which is designed to demonstrate the cost-saving advantages claimed for the fully automatic multicavity approach. A "Tandem" machine TD 1500 (with 15,000 kN closing force) is for simultaneous injection moulding of two different polypropylene motor vehicle door panels, a 31,500 kN Husky machine with two step injection unit can plastify up to 42 kg of PE-HD per hour on a continuous basis using an extruder and a metering cylinder.
READER SERVICE: Husky machinery data on the three machines demonstrated in Luxembourg (German): PIE-No. 37981 – Extracts from the inaugural speech by Robert Schad, Managing Director of Husky Injection Moulding System Ltd (Bolton, Ontario, Canada) at the opening of the technology centre (English): PIE-No. 37982.
