Italian tableware and household appliance manufacturer Fratelli Guzzini (Recanti; www.fratelliguzzini.com) said it is the first firm in the sector to use a selected range of Nas Eco sustainable SMMA materials from German plastics producer Ineos Styrolution (Frankfurt; www.ineos-styrolution.com). Guzzini will develop a new range of drinkware solutions from the material resulting from a cooperation between Ineos Styrolution and compatriot petrochemicals giant BASF (Ludwigshafen; www.basf.com).
Ineos Styrolution uses BASF’s biomass balance-based styrene, which is made with renewable feedstocks derived from organic waste orvegetable oils, for its sustainable Nas Eco SMMA range and its Luran Eco SAN products.
The end-to-end mass balance-based production of the materials are certified by International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC; www.iscc-system.org) during both BASF’s and Ineos Styrolution’s processes.
Additional materials suppliers are employing the tools of mass balance and certification of biomass and bioenergy (see Plasteurope.com of 24.03.2022).
