HOLLIDAY PIGMENTS
EUR 2m investment in environmentally friendly effluent treatment plant
In the latest move towards more environmentally friendly manufacturing, Holliday Pigments (Kingston upon Hull / UK; www.holliday-pigments.com) has invested EUR 2m in an effluent treatment plant (ETP) at its main manufacturing site in Comines / France. Part of the money was pledged by the EU, with additional funding from parent company Rockwood Pigments (Beltsville, Maryland / USA; www.rpigments.com).
Following the investment, the Comines site has become the world’s largest ultramarine manufacturing plant complying with EU environmental laws, capable of treating up to 800 m³ of water a day.
Holliday Pigments is the world’s leading manufacturer of ultramarine and manganese violet pigments. It was acquired by Rockwood Holdings last year – see Plasteurope.com of 12.08.2008.
