Holland Colours (Apeldoorn / The Netherlands; www.hollandcolours.com) has launched “Holcomer Thermostretch”, an additive whose properties are said to allow PET packaging manufacturers to accelerate bottle production while maintaining a high level of light barrier protection for the product. The additive delivers significantly higher opacity and improved heat absorbance at a dosing level 40% less than that of traditional alternatives, according to the supplier. It noted that the product also meets new regulations that limit the use of inorganic pigments, thereby improving recyclability.
Holland Colours said revenues in the first half to 30 September 2020 dropped 7.1% year-on-year to EUR 48.5m. Thanks to cost cuts, operating result was almost stable at EUR 6.1m. Net profit rose to EUR 4.5m from EUR 4.46m.
Revenues grew in the packaging segment but declined in building and construction and for coatings, sealants and adhesives. Revenues in the European division shrank 15% to EUR 23.6m and fell 5% to nearly EUR 15.3m in the Americas, the company said. Revenue jumped 20% in Asia to EUR 9.62m.
