HOECHST
New products grades: "Hostaflon" PFA-N / Further developments of fluorplastics
Higher thermal and thermomechanical stability at temperatures above 385 C is the characteristic feature of the new "Hostaflon" PFA-N grades which supplement the previous product range of the fully fluorinated melt-processable fluorplastic "Hostaflon" PFA of Hoechst AG (HQ: D-65926 Frankfurt). The properties common to all the "Hostaflon" PFA grades are: wide service temperature range, excellent resistance to chemicals and solvents, high weathering resistance and UV stability, high light transmission, no flash point under normal conditions, non-stick properties and good low-friction properties.

The improved property profile means that even under high shear stress the products can be processed without difficulty. The processing window is thus appreciably wider. For this reason, the new products offer considerable advantages in, for example, extrusion and injection moulding, and extruder-fed transfer moulding. Applications are in chemical process and laboratory equipment, in electrical engineering and electronics or in welding films, in which "Hostaflon" PFS is used for joining parts made from PTFE, PTFE-coated glass fabrics and metals.
